When Delhi has been facing tensions over the demolition of an allegedly illegal mosque, a music band is trying hard to make peace.

Established two years back, the group named IRAP (I Reach and Preach) is trying to draw the youth towards Allah amidst all this and explain things about Islam to everybody, Muslim or non-Muslim.
IRAP, is India's first Islamic rap band and has Muslims as well as non-Muslim members. The band has performed at several places across India and is soon planning to showcase their talent at Jamia in the Capital.

Farhan Ali, the founder, lead vocalist and rapper of the band started with a lyrical track called the 'Power of Prayer' which was the first of the 14 tracks of the album 'This is Islam'. "The main objective of the band is 'reaching out' to the masses especially the youth and 'preaching' without being preachy," said Ali.

"In today's strife-torn world, where Islam and terrorism are being linked so closely by so many, it is very important to clear the misconceptions of the people about the religion.

We try doing that through simple lyrics in English," Ali, a 26-year old software engineer by profession, added. Members of IRAP include students and professionals. IRAP soon plans to release its audio for different albums.

Farhan has researched a lot to face his critics because use of music in Islam has been controversial. He believes that the music used to praise Allah should not be questioned. "Team IRAP has used only halal (permissible) music and there is not one single filthy word in the lyrics of any track in any album of IRAP," Farhan Ali said.u00a0
"The immediate concern is recording one track successfully and circulating it among people," added Amir Raza.
