Over three lakh litres of drinking water have been lost in the last three days because of a leakage in a pipeline near Sutarwadi on Sus Road

Interestingly, the leakage was pointed out by local residents. Area MNS leader Narendra Nimhan said, “This is nothing but a criminal waste. We had also raised the issue with the Aundh Ward office, but nothing has happened.”
“We can’t afford to have such huge quantity of drinking water go to waste. On the one hand PMC is making appeals to save every drop, but the civic body itself is neglecting this matter,” said local resident Raju Kalekar.
Pashupalak Lasure who lives in Anand Park Society said, “I heard about the water leakage on Sus road and do not know how to react. We, the 68 flat holders in Anand Park are facing grave shortage of water since the last 6 months and are at the mercy of PMC’s water tankers. This appears to be a serious blunder on part of the PMC’s water supply division.”
The other side
Nitin Udas, chief ward officer from Aundh, said he was not aware of the leakage, but admitted there was water crisis in the area. “There are ups and downs in supply and we thrash out such issues with the civic body’s water supply department.
Natha Chavan, executive engineer of the same ward, said, “The repair work shall be done on priority basis. We are sending our technical team and consulting the water supply department. The leakage will be stopped by Wednesday.”
VG Kulkarni, superintendent engineer, water supply, PMC, also gave assurance of repairing the leakage on war footing.u00a0
