This trick worked, and in panic, Sreenivas released Velu and his driver and sped away in another car, which was following.Velu rushed to the High Grounds police station and registered a criminal case against Sreenivas and others. Velu alleged that Sreenivas, brother of Govindaraju, a corporator of Kammanahalli, had kidnapped him for not selling CD copyrights of his film Manase Mandara.
"I am lucky that I got a call and used the opportunity to secure my release," Velu said. According to High Grounds police, Velu approached them around 11 pm on Wednesday and filed a complaint, accusing Sreenivas and others of kidnapping and assaulting him.
However, police suspect business rivalry to be the reason for the alleged kidnap. Police have registered a case under IPC Sections 363 (kidnapping), 341 (wrongful restraint), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) and are on the lookout for the kidnappers.
