Dressed in a loose white shirt and black trousers, instead of the usual white khadi kurta payjama, Rahul Gandhi was greeted by a power cut on the campus. The Special Protection Group (SPG) guards had a tough time checking the ID cards of students who made a beeline to attend the event at the Kendriya Vidyalaya ground at the university.
The guards had to run all the security checks in torch light. However, many students were in awe of the safety arrangements for the young parliamentarian.
"All I could see was guns, a lot of guns," said Tinjin, a second year student of MA (History).
"We had heard about the special security for MPs but it is for the first time that I have seen it," said Shreya Upadhyay, a second year student of MA (Political Science).
Though there were some sounds of protest at the interactive session but Rahul Gandhi handled them very professionally and was able to silence his critics and won over the students with his pointed replies and smile.
The young MP was seen fielding questions on issues like corruption, price rise at the university, which is considered the bastion of Left parties.
