As the New Year sets IN, what our city needs is a revival of its old, dilapidated buildings. Structures built in the 1940s and years closer need to be redeveloped instantly. Also, to help developers fasten the process, there needs to be a standard regulation levied by the government on the minimum area given to the old tenants as the demands today by the residents are unreasonable.
Another suggestion is a one-window clearance system. Currently due to several authorities being involved in the process, it takes too long to approve a project, which in turn further delays the project.u00a0

If we want to make Mumbai a Shanghai or Dubai, this is what we need - adequate water supply, fantastic roads, a good metro and rail system and state-of-the-art airports. Affordable housing is one of the biggest needs of the hour.
Traffic still remains a big concern in this city. I think the only feasible solution is to make a road on road across the city. It will cost a bomb no doubt, but at least building flyovers and skywalks wherever necessary will be a permanent solution for the traffic problem.
Finally, I would say that the BMC should start taking its job seriously. They take funds from developers, but don't really do anything in return. It should start taking initiative and responsibility in all their jobs.
