Authority makes allocations for various infra projects in city, including the several Metro corridors

Urban Development Minister the Chairman of MMRDA Eknath Shinde chaired the 150th meeting of the authority on Tuesday and approved a budget of Rs 12,969.35 crore.

“The budget makes special provisions for infrastructure projects like public transport and Metro railway,” a press release said. An amount of Rs 250 crore has been earmarked for the Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ (third corridor) of the Metro railway. The Metro rail routes 2-A from Dahisar to D N Nagar in Andheri and the corridor from Dahisar (East) to Andheri (East) are likely to begin commercial operations from this year and hence, they have been provided with an outlay of Rs 700.65 crore and Rs 999.45 crore respectively.
The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link project got Rs 2,900.35 crore. The Balasaheb Thackeray memorial got Rs 100 crore while the Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar memorial got Rs 260 crore.
Other allocations include Bandra Kurla Complex (including the Kalanagar flyover) with Rs 60 crore, Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) with Rs 405 crore and Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project (MUIP-Extended) with Rs 776.85 crore. The maintenance and repairs of the Eastern and Western express highways got Rs 200 crore.
In the budget for the financial year 2021-22, an expenditure of Rs 12,969.35 crore is expected and an amount of Rs 9,833.75 crore is expected to be received. The authority also approved the annual report for 2019-20 and gave sanctions for the extension of the Metro Railway 2-B (D N Nagar to Mandale).
