A 48-year-old officer working with the Excise Department allegedly took his own life by getting run over by a train at Malad on Monday evening. The Borivli Government Railway Police said a suicide note was recovered wherein he had cited a few personal and professional problems for taking the extreme step. The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Mohite, a sub-inspector with the Excise Department. Mohite, a Malad resident, is survived by his wife and two children.

Cops said that they received a call around 4 pm about a man’s body being cut in half by the Gujarat Express train travelling towards Mumbai Central between Malad and Kandivli stations. The police reached the spot and found the suicide note from his pocket. While police said the contents of the note is confidential, sources said that Mohite had cited being harassed by some of his superiors.

“We have recorded the statement of his wife, but she could not tell us much due to shock. If any further complaint is made, action will be taken accordingly,” said Senior Inspector Anil Kadam from Borivli GRP. He added that an accidental death report (ADR) has been filed and further probe is on.
