All international passengers coming from “at-risk” countries will now have to undergo mandatory home quarantine.

“The BMC has introduced a unique and strict home quarantine monitoring mechanism for international passengers arriving in Mumbai from risk countries. It will be as effective as institutional quarantine,” said Iqbal Singh Chahal, the BMC commissioner.

As per the SOPs, Mumbai International Airport Ltd shall send a list of international passengers to the Disaster Management Unit of the BMC at 9 am every day and all 24 wards war rooms will receive a segregated list of the passengers in their areas at 10 am.  Ward war rooms will call passengers five times a day to ensure they are  following home quarantine protocols. Simultaneously, war rooms will notify the office bearers of the housing societies, who will need to ensure that these passengers stay under quarantine and no visitors are allowed at their households.
