The accused, who had hired a cab at Matunga, allegedly got down at several ATMs to withdraw cash with the debit cards.

Upon reaching Bharatmata Cinema, he made another attempt, but two police constables, sensing something amiss in his behaviour, stopped him for questioning.

As he failed to give a satisfactory reply to what he was doing, he was taken to the police station for inquiry.

There, heu00a0broke down and confessed that he had found the ATM cards near a bus stop in Mahim and was trying to withdraw the cash through it.

The police traced the driver of the cab he had hired, and upon questioning him, found that Shoeb first entered an ATM in Dadar, followed by another in Parel, before being arrested near Bharatmata Cinema.

Officials have not found any criminal record against Shoeb. "The accused may not have been involved in other criminal acts.
