The locals had discovered the murder scene after being drawn there by the incessant cries of a baby. The police reached the spot at around 5.30 pm and rescued the infant, who was then admitted to the hospital for a medical examination. The police also sent the mother’s body for post-mortem.

Primary investigations revealed that the woman had been murdered in the morning. “We have registered a murder case and are scanning records of missing women in a similar age group to identify the deceased. Meanwhile, the Waliv police are conducting investigations to locate the killer,” said PSI Shirsat.
