Suspected suicide

A 17-year-old girl is suspected to have committed suicide by jumping off the terrace of a building in Malad on Saturday.

Some residents said that the girl had fallen accidentally while flying kites. Police claimed that they did not find kites or the manja(string-roll) on the terrace. The girl, identified as Vidhi Mehta, was the resident of Trimurthi Apartments at Jakarta Road, and was studying in Class 11. Police said that the deceased girl's father Ritesh is a businessman while her mother is a house wife. Police have registered a case of accidental death and the body was sent to Bhagwati hospital for postmortem. No suicide note has been found and police also did not find any evidence of foulplay.
