The Shiv Sena is taking its election campaign to the next level, technologically. This election, the party is planning to send e-mails, SMSes and voice SMSes to voters personalised for each individual recipient.

The messages are to incorporate the problems faced by the individuals. The mails or the SMSes will then, obviously, urge the recipient to vote for the Sena.

"We want to tell people that we understand their problems like poor power or water supply, and communicate that the government has failed to tackle them," said Shailendra Patil, head of the IT and media cell of the Shiv Sena.

Database

A huge database of citizens has been prepared with the help of party workers, those visiting Sena Bhavan and market research agencies in order to send the personalised SMSes and emails.

The party has established an in-house video production house and data centre inside the Shiv Sena Bhavan, where all the videos and adverts to be used in the campaign will be produced.

"We will also upload interviews of our leaders on You Tube during the campaign. Besides, Aditya Thackeray will use Facebook to reach out to the youth," Patil added.

People's Manifesto

Earlier in the year, the Sena had asked the public for suggestions for their manifesto. The party received over 8,000 emails.

Most of the suggestions have been incorporated in the party's manifesto, which will be released within the next couple of days and uploaded on the party's website.
