840 global delegates participate in the two-day meet sans Chinese
Day One of the Retailers' Leadership Summit 2011 saw the who's who of the retail industry from across the globe barring China participating and exchanging notes with delegates.
Around 840 delegates from across the globe, including Italy, the US and Philippines, arrived in the city to participate in the two-day meet, which is being organised for the third consecutive year.

B S Nagesh, the associate vice-chairman of Shoppers' Stop and chairman of the Retailers' Association of India, kicked off the meet by delivering the welcome address.
Then Philip Miller, chairman of Philip B Miller & Associates, enlightened the audience on 'The Evolution of Retailing in the US'.
Following Miller's international key-note address, a discussion was organised in which several panelists such as Kishore Biyani, CEO of the Future Group (Big Bazaar), T T Jagannathan, the chairman and managing director of the Chennai-based TTK Group, Neel Raheja, the group president of the K Raheja Group, and Nikhil Chaturvedi, the MD of Provogue (India), participated.
If the pre-lunch discussion was centred around challenges faced by family-run businesses when professionals are roped in to manage the business, the post-lunch session was focused on 'Leadership Perspective on Hypermarket'.
The session was attended by the likes of Thomas Varghese, CEO of Aditya Birla Retail, Sadashiv Nayak, president of Big Bazaar, Jamshed Daboo, CEO of Trent Hypermarket, among others.
