Authorities have seized gold worth over Rs 1.3 crore from passengers on a Bangkok-Mumbai flight on Monday at the Mumbai International Airport

Authorities have seized gold worth over Rs 1.3 crore from passengers on a Bangkok-Mumbai flight on Monday at the Mumbai International Airport.


The authorities seized 26 gold bars and 8 crude gold bangles, totally weighing 5148 gms and valued at Rs 1,30,19,061, from Lalit Narayan Yadav and Ranjit Kaur, who had arrived from Bangkok by flight No.9W-0061 on Monday.


The gold bars were wrapped in iron plate and were fixed with magnets on the upper portion of baggage trolley carried by the duo. The gold bangles were worn by Ranjit Kaur and concealed by silvered coloured tape.


Both the passengers were arrested and will be produced to seek judicial custody on Tuesday.
