"Mars feels a lot closer now," laughed Manekar as he signed certificates for the 35 students, who were felicitated on Saturday evening. "But the success means a lot more for us. We are located in the heart of the city, and it's a constant fear for me that space around the centre will be encroached upon for vested interests," he said. Even though the director is tight-lipped about the matter, it's now in the open that 'requests' have been made to allow slumdwellers, who reside between the Centre and the Planetarium, to use the Centre's roads.
Meanwhile, the Science Centre is also in talks with schools to open science centres to revive interest.
