Hinduja Hospital gets accreditation from national body

P D Hinduja Hospital and Medical Research Center here has received accreditation from a top national body, a step that will ensure high-quality of care and patient safety.

The accreditation by National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) will help the hospital to benchmark with international quality services to its patients, a release from the centre, one of the oldest multi- specialty tertiary care hospitals in Mumbai, said.

The accreditation, valid for three years, benefits all stakeholders, especially patients, and ensures high-quality of care and patient safety, it said.

"Accreditation follows a rigorous process stretching over six months during which almost 513 measurable elements related to patient care, management of the hospital, training and education of staff are tracked and optimised," P D Hinduja Hospital CEO Pramod Lele said.

"We will now compete with global benchmarks. Accreditation translates into continuous improvement and this will help us demonstrate our commitment to quality care."

The International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) has accredited 'Standard for Hospitals' developed by NABH which authenticates that its standards are in consonance with global benchmarks set by ISQua.

NABH accreditation lays around 500-plus objectives in patient interest which the hospital has to comply with, the release said.

A constituent board of the Quality Council of India, the body has been set up to establish and operate accreditation programme for healthcare organisations.

The board, while being supported by all stakeholders, including industry, consumers and Government, has full functional autonomy in its operation, the release said.
