Cancer drives youth to suicide

Jalpeet was later discharged and was prescribed medication. In his statement to the police, Malabhai said that his son had been in depression since finding out that he was suffering from cancer.

Police officers investigating the case said that when Jalpeet didn't emerge from his room till 10 am, his father knocked on the door. After getting no response, the family finally broke into the room and found Jalpeet hanging from the ceiling fan. They then informed the Dindoshi police.

Police officers who reached the spot did not find any suicide note. Jalpeet's body was sent to Bhagwati hospital for post mortem.

Dindoshi police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating the case. "We have recorded the statements of the deceased's relatives and are carrying on investigations," said Sub-Inspector Deepak Girne, from Dindoshi police station.
