Absconding bookie arrested again

Bookie Paresh Bhatia was arrested by Crime Branch officers from Kandivli around 9 pm yesterday.

Bhatia has been on the run since November 2013 when officials from Unit XI had raided an apartment in Malad (West). Four bookies were arrested from the flat in Vardhaman Apartments for placing bets on an India-West Indies match. Bhatia was also there but managed to escape the police. He has been on the run ever since.

Bhatia was allegedly a part of the IPL spot-fixing scandal that broke out last year and was arrested by Mumbai cops from Goa in June. He was later let out on bail. He will be produced before court tomorrow where cops will seek his custody for further investigations.
