A 21-year-old Indian army soldier was arrested today on charges of sending obscene SMSes and making nagging phone calls to a girl.
Irritated after receiving repeated abusive SMSes and the calls during odd hours from anonymous mobile numbers, the girl lodged a police complaint at Pendurthi police station on September 25, 2012, after which the case was transferred to the City Cybercrime Investigation Cell.
Inspector of Police CCIC, B V Venkateswara Rao and his team, which investigated the case based on IMEI numbers of the accused's phone and identity proofs of SIM cards, arrested Vinod Kumar today.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) Mohamoud Khan said the police also seized a mobile phone and SIM cards from the accused. Khan said they would communicate the matter to officials of the Indian Army for further action against Vinod Kumar.u00a0
