In the meanwhile, Gourav’s course at Frankfinn was completed and he bagged a job at a leading airline. Thus, he traveled back home to apply for this passport. However, as luck would have it, Gourav met with an accident and couldn’t join his new job. While he was distraught, he still dreamt of acting. During this phase, Gourav’s brother introduced him to Musical.ly. He started creating videos just for fun and simultaneously started offering tuitions to school students in his area. His tutoring endeavor was very fruitful with many student enrolments and he also started getting job offers from schools. Gourav, however, still had his eyes set on his acting dream. He was witnessing many people succeeding with Musical.ly. Several videos later, one of his videos went viral. It garnered 84k likes and 700k views. Gourav was elated at this little win and worked harder but only to face disappointments.
Gourav had merely 35k followers when he almost gave up and decided to focus on his tutoring career. He posted 2 last videos on TikTok and that is when the ‘Mela babu ne Thana thaya’ video went viral. This was a turning point for Gourav. Within 2 days of the success of this video, he hit 100k followers on TikTok and never looked back. Several more of his dialogues went viral and he reached a fanbase of 3.1 million followers. Even after TikTok got banned, Gourav didn’t get demotivated as he had already reached a good follower base on Instagram and YouTube. Today he has 740k followers on Instagram and he has already bagged a role in a web series on one of the leading OTT platforms. He is also an exclusive content creator for Mx TakaTak with 6.8 million followers and has done numerous branding assignments.
He dreams of being celebrated even after he dies and hopes that people remember him for his good work. Gourav’s journey is an inspiration for the youth to keep working towards their dreams.
