Pune just got a pretzel shop. Those funny twisted doughnuts which taste great due to their sheer quality of soft, sweet dough have finally got representation in Peshwa city with a shop dedicated to them. We wish they had a bit of seating but at this pretzel place you can either choose to stand and eat or take-away. We began with their Original Chicken Burger (Rs 60). This was a basic burger (other options include either garlic or jalapenos simply sprinkled on top). Interestingly but simply done, this is included a chicken patty in a pretzel web. It would have tasted nice if only the patty were completely cooked.

The Cheese Jalapeno Chicken Hot Dog (Rs 65) (same variants as above) was again wrapped in pretzel dough and came with an insipid sausage that was lifted by the few pieces of jalapenos. You can pick your dip (Rs 5) and we chose a honey-mustard, mint and mayonnaise. All of them were chilled (not freshly made) and nothing to speak about.
Finally, we began our journey into real pretzel land. You can pick a selection of six pretzels for Rs 250 and we did just that. The Desi Delight pretzel had a disastrous layer of a sort of chaat masala. The warm All Brain (white chocolate and almond) did little to lift our mood and we decided to doggy bag the rest. The pretzels journeyed home, rested in the fridge and then emerged a few hours later. Dampened by what we had tasted so far, our hopes weren't pinned too high. But the pretzels we welcomed home were determined to prove their worth.
We gave up on warming them and tried them chilled. The Honey Love one was deliciously enveloped in amorous chocolate. The Chocolate And Orange drifted us back to school short-breaks with choco-orange biscuits.u00a0
The Be Blue (blueberry pretzel) came out squishy from the microwave but tasted delicious. Finally, the Lemon Blast came as the grand finale. Chocolate coated with just the finest hint of zingy lemon, the first bite was melt-in-your-mouth heavenly.
We recommend Pretzels A'More not for their savoury innovations but for their sweet varieties. This is not the quintessential American breakfast or snack option but a dessert one. Of course, they don't have infused options yet but the current lot does well as a dessert too ufffd either by itself or topped with ice-cream.
