Set against the backdrop of the turbulent 1960s, which led to the formation of Bangladesh, the film tells the story of a family torn apart by religion and war. In this adaptation of Joseph Kessel's 1943 book of the same name, the film follows a small group of French Resistance fighters as they move between safe houses, work with Allied militaries, kill informers, and attempt to evade the capture and execution that they know is their most likely fate.
