Choosing the right suitcase

>> You should be able to respond with a "Yes" to these questions, while you search for a smart suitcase: Will it fit all my stuff, is it big/small enough for the length of my trip? Will the bag be weather-friendly depending on the place I am going to? Will it last the entire trip?

>> Check for multiple compartments, since that makes for easy storage. Waterproof pouches can hold your toiletries and wet swimsuits.

>> Brighter colours and weird suitcases might not match your business suit but if you are a frequent flier with not too much time to spare, you will be able to spot your bag faster on the luggage carousel.



>> For longer journeys, hard-sided suitcases would fare better. They might restrict your weight limit but are stain-resistant and help protect fragile items.

>> Don't always go for the cheapest buy at the store. There's nothing worse than a handle dropping off the bag in the middle of the road.

>> If you tend to carry too many fragile items, check for suitcases with extra padding.

>> Ensure the handle has enough rivets holding it to the frame, the zips are sustainable and slide easily, and the wheels don't appear wobbly.

>> Move the bag around before buying it and test it. See if the handle is long enough, the wheels are smooth, the back straps comfortable and the suitcase feels sturdy.

>> Bags with a detachable piggy bag clip or a looped clip on the handle allow you to attach a smaller bag to it so that you have a free hand.
