The 48-year-old action star now prefers to keep a check on security measures, stunt work and the rehearsals while working on action scenes, reported ET online.

"There was a bad experience early on, where we lost one of the stunt guys; a guy named Harry O'Connor, who was a great guy on xXx," Diesel said.

O'Connor died during a rappelling stunt when he hit a bridge at high speed and was killed instantly.

"That was a big eye opener for me and that probably more than anything has made me that focused on safety and rehearsal. I probably take it, take the rehearsal of action sequences and choreography, that much more serious because of it," he added.

Released in 2002, "xXx" went on to become a box office success.
