Annu and daughter Anmol get the boot; seven out of nine songs composed for Satish Kaushik film discarded
Seven of music director's Annu Malek's nine songs from Satish Kaushik's Tere Sang have been discarded. To add to his woes, the female tracks were rendered by his daughter Anmol.Kaushik has now recorded fresh music with newbie duo Sachin-Jigar and has re-shot the songs.
It is learnt that at a later stage it was felt that the songs did not go well with the film's theme of teenage pregnancy. Kaushik has therefore got rid of most of Annu's score.
Going with the new
Says the director, "Pritam Chakraborty's assistants Sachin-Jigar gave Tere Sang a new sound. I've used three of their songs and a fourth will be a promotional video.u00a0 Annu and I have shared a long and fruitful relationship in the past.
I've signed new composers for Tere Sang with his permission. Two of Annu's songs have been retained. I'll give him credit for two of the songs that his daughter has sung.
But Tere Sang required a fresh sound which I suddenly got from these two new boys introduced to me by lyricist Sameer."
Annu is known to get upsetu00a0 about his music being tampered with. He had protestedu00a0 when Apoorva Lakhia added tracks by other composers inu00a0 Mission Istaanbul.
But when asked about Tere Sang, Annu coolly maintains, "Really? That's great, and all the best to him. God bless him and the film."
The film features Ruslaan Mumtaz with Sheena Singh. Says Ruslaan, "We love Annuji's songs but felt the story needed real music.
The songs earlier had my co-star and me breaking into song and dance the way a normal lead pair does. But Tere Sang isn't a conventional film."
u00a0He adds, "Weu00a0 re-shot the songs in Delhi last month. This time, the songs don't stop the narrative. They are in the background and carry the story forward, like music in realistic films does."
