Shilpa Shetty has been shooting at the Ashtamudi Lake at Kollam district in Kerala since last Saturday for her 'bald' portions in her Indo-Chinese film Desire.

But unlike Aamir Khan in Ghajini or Shabana Azmi and Lisa Ray in Water, Shetty's bald look will be courtesy prosthetics.

Shilpa was firm about not shaving off her tresses to avoid continuity problem for her other films.

Also, her beau Raj Kundra who loves her mane, warned her against shaving her head. Shilpa had India's best prosthetic make-up artistes flown to Kollam for the shoot.

A source reveals, "Prosthetic make-up artiste Vidyadhar dada worked on Shilpa's no-hair look. More people asked to leave the sets; everything was shot in utmost secrecy."

Shot to perfection

Shilpa has three looks in the film one of which is that of a renowned dancer and it's that part which is being shot now at Kollam.

"Shilpa has been learning Odissi under Kelucharan Mohapatra's son, Ratikant, every day for an hour in the morning. Ratikant is also choreographing her song.

Everyday she has to perform to the tribhangi form of Odissi where the body gets twisted into three parts. The director wants the choreography pieces to be shot to perfection, which explains the dance schedule."

Shilpa says, "It was quite scary at first when I looked at the monitor and saw my bald look! But then, I got more interested in the reactions of people around me rather than my own emotions."

After Shilpa completes her bald shots, the cast and crew will shift to another region and finally Kuala Lumpur for the last schedule.

The bald look

Baldness in films can be created through prosthetics by fitting a flesh-colored latex bald cap over the head and attaching it with spirit gum adhesive and other accessories.
