While rumour has it that filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani will have an extended cameo in the Sanjay Dutt biopic, playing Subhash Ghai in the film, a unit hand tells mid-day that Hirani will, in fact, be playing himself. He will appear in a few scenes where Dutt [played by Ranbir Kapoor] is offered the film Munnabhai M.B.B.S (2003).

"Raju sir making an appearance makes the movie so much more authentic. He has already shot for the part," says a source.

In an interview, Hirani had revealed that years ago he came to Mumbai to become an actor, but never got the offers he was looking for. He is best remembered for a Fevicol advertisement. "After Raju sir finished his shot, Ranbir and Vicky [Kaushal] celebrated his return to acting and threw a party after pack-up," says the source.
