Mohit Suri's 'Ek Villain' has grossed nearly Rs 50 crore in the first weekend of its release.

Exhibitor Rajesh Thadani says, "The film's music and Mohit Suri's last film's success drew the audiences into cinema halls. With Ramzan now on, the film's collections may take a beating but it's still too early to say more. We will have to wait and see how it fares from here on."

Trade analyst Komal Nahata says that it's the gripping trailer of the film that worked in its favour. "Thanks to the trailer, as also the fact that both Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor have now become youth icons, a lot of people flocked the theatres to watch the film.

So it might just cross the Rs 100 crore mark," he says. Meanwhile, Sajid Khan's latest multi-starrer, 'Humshakals', has collected a total of Rs 52 crore in the second weekend.
