In a firm reaffirmation of Gujarat's infrastructure-driven growth promise, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel oversaw development activities at Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) in detail on Thursday. The visit is a testament to the strategic importance of Dholera SIR as the backbone of India's future manufacturing and innovative city ecosystem.

While infrastructure development gains momentum, Dholera SIR will be a global model for urban-industrial development. Dholera is central to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to establish India as a centre in high-tech sectors such as semiconductors, green technology, and next-generation logistics.

Dholera Infrastructure Drive Approaching Milestones

Chief Minister Patel was briefed on the progress of some of the ongoing mega infrastructure projects. In particular, 95% of the construction of the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway has been finished. The Dholera-to-state-urban-centre expressway will reduce travel time significantly and will encourage industrial development.

The region also saw the completion or near completion of the most vital amenities, such as road networks, electricity supply infrastructure, water and sewerage, and plug-and-play industrial parks. The key infrastructure already functional is a 300 MW solar park, state-of-the-art ICT facilities, an effluent treatment plant, and the famous ABCD building — one of the prime nerve centres for Dholera's administrative and commercial hub.  The Chief Minister also inspected social infrastructure projects like a 192-bed multi-speciality hospital, a fire station, a full-fledged school, and housing projects to make Dholera habitable and future-ready.

Focus on Semiconductors and Connectivity

A standout feature of the review was the tour of Tata Electronics' semiconductor manufacturing facility, currently being built in Dholera's specialised Semicon City.

This initiative reflects India's increasing aspirations in the semiconductor sector, bolstered by government backing and a forward-looking strategy.

The Chief Minister also inspected the Dholera International Airport site, where work on the cargo and passenger terminals and the runway is in full swing. With an investment of ₹1,350 crore, the airport will be one of the major logistics centres of Gujarat and the nation.

GAP Group's Akhilam Township Sets Urban Planning Standard

One of the highlights of the Chief Minister's tour was a visit to the GAP Group's Akhilam integrated township, which is being built in the Activation Area of Dholera SIR. The township will be the area's first integrated residential and commercial community.

Spanning 42,000 square meters, the township will have 1,000 luxury 1BHK apartments, retail spaces, office space, banking complexes, and recreational spaces. GAP Group, winner of Dholera SIR's first-ever auctioned land block, is redeveloping Akhilam into a model of sustainable urbanisation on par with industrial development.

Regarding the location, GAP Group's Managing Director Ambrish Parajiya stated, "Dholera is going to be one of the most happening industrial clusters not just in Gujarat but in the whole country. With our world-class township project, we ensure that the supply of quality residential and commercial spaces keeps pace with industrial development."

Preparing for a Transformative Future

The visit of the Chief Minister is being viewed as a harbinger of Prime Minister Modi's soon-to-be-announced visit to the region, which will pave the way for even more investor interest. With more than 20,000 high-value jobs expected in the next two years and employment reaching 1.5 lakh by 2030, the demand for sustainable housing and new-age amenities will only be more intense.

Dholera SIR's journey exemplifies visionary minds, inter-agency collaboration, and the private sector. As Mahatma Gandhi used to say, "The future depends on what you do today." The work undertaken in Dholera today defines India's industrial future for decades.
