The president of the German Football Association, Dr Theo Zwanziger, has raised doubts about his future in the role by admitting he is tired of the job.

The president of the German Football Association, Dr Theo Zwanziger, has raised doubts about his future in the role by admitting he is "tired" of the job.

Elections are due to take place in October and it is now no longer certain that Zwanziger, who has been in the firing line over the last few months due to the breakdown in contract talks with Germany coach Joachim Low, will stand for re-election.

"That is totally open at the moment," he admitted to the Rhein Zeitung newspaper.

"I am a bit tired of the job. I am feeling a deep desire for a more private life.

Zwanziger must signal his intentions at the German FA's (DFB) general meeting on July 31, when all presidential candidates must make their plans for mandate public.

The 65-year-old has chaired the DFB since September 2006, replacing Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder.
