Meeta Awatramani, training manager, Clarins, says, "Trends this summer are about clear complexion and sheer make up. Cheekbones highlighted with a hint of colour, lips done in peach or orange and eyeshadow in turquoise are big trends," she says, emphasising that the cleansing-toning-moisturising routine can never go out of fashion.
Lippi Lal, consultant, Maxfactor and Bourjois Paris, says, "This summer, bold colours like luscious pinks and reds for the lips are in. For the face, it's the stark and natural look. Glossy and shiny make up is out, and so are colours like orange. Keep a blotting paper handy, and good waterproof mascara."
A clean face with a matt finish, defined eyes and luscious lips are what makes heads turn this season, she adds.
Charmaine, make-up artist from YSL, says, "Peaches and browns give a fresh look to the skin. For the eyes, there are shades of yellow, pink, green and dark purple."
Arguing against the use of heavy foundation, Charmaine suggests that moisturisers be replaced with lighter applications like loose powder or even bronzers. "Dark and flashy colours like dark blue and black are out.
Natural eyeshadows and eyeliners can achieve the 'less is more' look which is big this season," she adds.
Casual chic or ultra glam
For office make up, try products that offer a matt finish. For the lips, opt for long-lasting lip colours and for the eyes, choose light kohl.
For a party, keep it simple and at the same time glamorous. A hint of glitter to the eyebrows or to the shoulder can add that sexy touch. Suivez Mon Regard, from Bourjois Paris, is a shimmer powder and can be used anywhere to add glitter for a complete party look. Avoid using dark colours.

Your skincare routine?
I prefer a no make up look with healthy skin showing through. I drink a lot of water and eat fresh fruits. I do not overload my skin with make up. I stick to the basics like a dab of concealer, a little translucent powder, masacara and some lipstick.
You'd be aghast if...
I caught myself ever using runny kajal! It looks and feels awful. I'd advise people to stay away from kohl and eyeliner. Keep your eye make up light in summer.
What kind of look wins your approval?
Fresh, dewy sheer skin with just a hint of colour. Bright lipsticks and nude eyes work well. Go bright on your lips for the night, bring out the sheens and shines, fake lashes and kohl for a glam evening but pack them away during the day.
Any beauty secrets that you'd like to share?
Use cream blushers to add a healthy glow to your skin. Use powder eye shadows and not creamy ones as they fold into your creases and look tacky. Use lip tints. They are easy to apply and perfect to wear during the day. Shop for waterproof mascara. No make up is complete without it.
