Spending on IT security is relatively low in India compared to other fast growing economies, says a study by research firm Frost & Sullivan.

"IT security spending is relatively low in India when compared with other fast growing economies in the world as percentage of their total IT budget," said Frost & Sullivan Deputy Director (South Asia and Middle East) Girish Trivedi.

According to the study, the enterprise network security market in India, estimated at 129.32 million dollars, registered a growth rate of 19.21 per cent in 2008 compared to previous year.

"It may, however, grow at 10.56 per cent (this year)," Frost & Sullivan said.

Trivedi said though IT security is a vital component, a significant number of chief information officers (CIOs) in India didn't have any fixed budget for it.
