The aim was to promote the usage of Hindi to communicate via SMS, which is useful for the millions in India who are not comfortable with English. Commenting on this, the judges said, "A truly moving project that combines technology and tradition to protect and encourage the use of a language that is core to a national identity. With literacy posing a major issue with SMS, this is one very impactful way of resolving it."
Black it is: The BlackBerry Storm 9500's SurePress Screen won the 'Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough' thanks to its tactile touch interface. As the judges said, "The SurePress screen incorporates touch with confirmation, taking interaction to a new level."
