A 38-year-old man, a father, has been apprehended by Manpada police in Dombivli for the alleged murder of his 10-year-old disabled daughter, the police said.
According to the police, the accused identified as Manojkumar Agrahari, reportedly harbored resentment towards his daughter's condition and had repeatedly expressed his intent to end her life to his wife.
The family resides in Mangaon, where Manojkumar resides with his wife, Lilavati (32), and their four daughters. Among their children, Lovely (10) had been physically disabled since birth, facing challenges in both speech and hearing. Despite undergoing medical treatment, her condition showed no signs of improvement, an official said.
"Manojkumar, a habitual drinker, would often curse his daughter and tell his wife that the girl was of no use and a burden to him. He had openly stated his intention to kill their daughter to relieve himself of what he considered a burden," said an official from the Manpada police station.

On the evening of September 24th, at around 5 pm, Lilavati, who works as a maid, left for her regular job. Upon returning home, she discovered Lovely lying unresponsive on the floor. Despite her attempts to wake her daughter, there was no response.
"The mother sought help from their neighbors and rushed the girl to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival. Based on her suspicions, we detained Manojkumar, who subsequently confessed to killing his daughter," said another officer. The preliminary cause of death indicated strangulation. Manojkumar has been arrested under IPC section 302 (murder).
