The Indian men’s and women’s hockey teams both lost to Belguim in the European leg of the FIH Pro League on Thursday night.

The Harmanpreet Singh-led Indian men’s team went down 1-4 to World No. 3 Belgium, who scored through skipper Felix Denayer (22nd min), Alexander Hendrickx (34th) and Cedric Charlier (49th) after which young striker Abhishek pulled one back for India. A stroke in the dying moments saw Hendrickx add the fourth goal.

The Indian women’s team under new coach Harendra Singh lost their second game on the trot, going down 0-2 to Belgium. Alexia Serstevens (34th) and Dewaet Louise (36th) scored for the hosts. The Salima Tete-led Indians were previously thrashed 0-5 by Argentina. 


Meanwhile, in Breda, The Netherlands, India’s junior men’s team lost 4-5 to local Dutch side Bredase Hockey Vereniging Push. Captain Rohit (18th), Sourabh Anand Khushwaha (24th), Ankit Pal (32nd), and Arshdeep Singh (58th) scored for India.
