Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher is backing Sebastian Vettel to pip Jenson Button to this year's title.

Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher is backing Sebastian Vettel to pip Jenson Button to this year's title.

Vettel currently trails Button by 16 points in the race for the drivers' championship and with only two races left, the German is running out of time to overhaul the deficit.

Schumacher, though, insists Vettel can still pick up the points needed, starting at Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix.

"Mathematically everything is still possible, and I will keep my fingers crossed for him," Schumacher told his official website. "He still has the chance to win the title and this fact alone is already a big success for him. I am sure he will do everything possible to produce a good performance in the next two races."
