Difficult to pick India Olympic tennis pair: Amritraj

Amidist a lot of speculation as to which doubles pair would represent India in tennis in the London Olympics, former India Davis Cup captain Vijay Amritraj said it's hard to choose two from three quality doubles players Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna.

"It's hard to say which two of the three are the best. Lee and Mahesh have showed that they are a great pair. Lee and Rohan could have been a good pair and so are Mahesh and Rohan. The key now is to find a fourth good player to complement the other three," he said.

But the former tennis star couldn't zero in on two. "Rohan, Mahesh and Leander are three quality players. But there are only two chairs to fill up. Hence the next few months will decide who will pair up with whom to represent the country at the Olympics," Amritraj felt.

Amritraj, however, felt that Paes and Bhupathi have proven that they can do well with different partners.u00a0

"I think if Lee plays in deuce court he will do well with most of the players and so is Mahesh if he plays in ad court. It will be interesting to see with whom Lee plays regularly Radek Stepanek or Janko Tipsarevic," he added.
