Honda's Spanish rider Dani Pedrosa won the Portuguese MotoGP yesterday, with world champion Jorge Lorenzo in second and Australian Casey Stoner third.

Pedrosa, who underwent shoulder surgery less than a month ago, swept past pole-setter Lorenzo with four laps to go for his debut win in Estoril and his first of the season.

Lorenzo retained his lead in the world championship on 65 points, but Pedrosa is now only four points adrift on 61.
