Angad Kumar
"Last year we didn't get any water on the 5.6km stretch of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. This was a huge disadvantage. Besides, even at points where water was supposed to be available, the stock was exhausted. There should had been a water station at every two kms," said Kumar.
Defending the organiser's however, India's elite athletes' co-ordinator Sunita Godara said, "If we go by rule, water is to be provided at every 5 kms, but since Mumbai has a warm climate, water stations are provided at 2.5 kms."
Mumbai Marathon's director, media relations, Bruno Goveas clarified that there won't be any water woes this time round. "This year we have ensured that water be provided at every 1.5 km stretch. We haveu00a0 set up 28 water station and 8 power drink stations that includes nutritious drinks along with Glucose biscuits and eight orange stations that will have orange juices," said Goveas.
