Messi paid to share WhatsApp video call with wife Antonela after Copa win

The post received 17.8million ‘likes’. Although the amount Messi earned from the promotion is unclear, he  reportedly earns 631,000 pounds (approx Rs 6.5cr) per Instagram post.

After Lionel Messi captained Argentina to the Copa America win last month, the first call he made was to his wife Antonela Roccuzzo and family.

According to British tabloid, The Sun, Messi’s video call after Argentina’s 1-0 win over Brazil in the Copa America final at the Maracana was part of a paid promotion with WhatsApp. He shared the video on his social media platforms and captioned it: “What a special moment! This was just after the final when I was celebrating the Copa America win with my family in a WhatsApp video call.”
