"This dual role is quite interesting, and most importantly I am still learning. Playing the role of a player and the manager is something which is new for me and I am sure this will help the players of Kerala better," said James, who, at 44, is amongst the oldest players in the ISL.

James believes that playing in the goalkeeping position has enabled him to extend his playing career till the age of 44.

"Yes, one could term it like that. I am sure I can still play and manage the team," said the Kerala Blasters custodian, who started his senior career at Watford back in 1989.

James, who has won the FA Cup and the League Cup with Portsmouth and Liverpool respectively, believes that ISL will have a positive impact on the growth of sport in
India.

So, will he be back in India for the next edition? "I will definitely come if Kerala Blasters win," James signed off.
