Pacer Sonny Baker continued his remarkable rise in English cricket, claiming a stunning hat-trick for Manchester Originals in their dominant 57-run win over Northern Superchargers in The Hundred on Sunday. The 21-year-old, recently named in England’s limited-overs squads for upcoming series against South Africa and Ireland, joined the prestigious list of Sam Curran, Imran Tahir, and Tymal Mills as bowlers to have taken a hat-trick in the competition’s history.
After the Originals posted a commanding 171/3, thanks to impactful half-centuries from skipper Jos Buttler (64 off 45 balls, 5 fours, 4 sixes) and Heinrich Klaasen (50* off 25, 4 fours, 4 sixes), it was Baker who stole the show with the ball.
