With great difficulty, Bangladesh managed to score just 59 runs more than South Africa opener Quinton de Kock’s 174 and suffered a humiliating loss of 149 runs at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.

On the eve of the Bangladesh clash, SA’s interim captain Aiden Markram repeatedly stressed that his team will aim to ‘replicate’ their top-class performance against England, who they outclassed by 229 runs on Saturday. And Proteas did exactly that by outplaying Bangladesh and acquiring second place in the points table with a top net run-rate of 2.370.
