Former India batsman, coach and chief selector Sandeep Patil has slammed the “resting” policy of the Indian cricket team and pointed to the amount of cricket his generation of cricketers played without such breaks.

“All the top players in India figured in so many tournaments apart from domestic competitions and this business of resting players was non-existent. In Mumbai, all of us including the great Sunil Gavaskar played the Times Shield, sometimes in between scheduled Ranji Trophy games. Kapil Dev too played so much domestic cricket.
