Chasing a target of 145 runs against Zimbabwe, South African openers, Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Reeza Hendricks were not able to accumulate many runs. Pretorius scored just four runs, whereas Hendricks returned to the pavilion after scoring just six runs.

Despite the early fall of wickets, Rassie van der Dussen delivered a captain's knock by smashing an unbeaten 52 runs. His knock came in 41 balls, including six boundaries. Rubin Hermann, too, scored 63 runs off 36 deliveries, which was laced with three boundaries and four maximums.
