India’s premier wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav has dropped to third place in the latest ICC ODI bowling rankings, released on Wednesday. South Africa’s left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj reclaimed the No. 1 spot following a match-winning performance against Australia in the first ODI of their three-match series in Cairns.

Maharaj, 35, delivered a stunning spell of 5 for 33, earning him the Player of the Match award and propelling South Africa to a commanding 98-run victory. His efforts helped him leapfrog both Kuldeep and Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana to reclaim the top ranking, that he briefly held in November and December 2023.

Among Indian bowlers, only Ravindra Jadeja joins Kuldeep in the top 10 of the updated ODI rankings, highlighting India’s limited movement due to a lack of recent matches since their Champions Trophy title win.
