The former India captain wants the Ranchi cricketer to follow in his steps and enter cricket administration after finishing his playing career.

Ganguly is beginning his innings in cricket administration by agreeing to be Mohammedan Sporting Club's representative at Cricket Association of Bengal. He will soon be part of CAB's working committee.
"I want Mahi to join Indian cricket administration because we in Eastern India need people like him," Ganguly said.u00a0
India'su00a0 most successful captain is a fan of Dhoni's leadership skills and has said on many occasions that the wicketkeeper's style of captaincy is in many ways similar to his.
Decision
The former captain was expected to contest for the CAB president's post against Jagmohan Dalmiya in the 2009 elections, but eventually decided against it.
However, he has made up his mind to get into cricket administration. Sources close to the left-handed batsman said that he will be a strong contender for the BCCI president's post in 2014 when it is East Zone's turn to occupy the top position in Indian cricket.
When asked whether he was backing Ganguly's decision to enter cricket administration, Dhoni flashed a big smile, which said it all. Dhoni was in Kolkata for a commercial assignment.
Meanwhile, former BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya is set for another term as chief of Cricket Association of Bengal with no one to challenge him.
Yesterday was the last day for filing nominations.
