Please Dhoni, spare us another batting debacle

Some of India's most humiliating collapses have come against Sri Lanka. Indian fans would not want to see a repeat of a slump like Saturday's and earlier games which are featured here in today's tri-series final:

*Sri Lanka scored 307 for six and then blasted India out for 168 with Agnelo Matthews picking up six for 20 on Saturday. Lanka won by 139 runs

*Ajantha Mendis returned sensational figures of 8-1-13-6 as India were bowled out for 173 in the Asia Cup final at the National Stadium in Karachi in July, 2008. Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 273 and then Mendis made it a no-contest with his magic carrom-ball.

*India's most embarrassing defeat to the Lankan Lions came in the final of 2000-2001 Champions Trophy in Sharjah.u00a0 Jayasuriya powered Lanka to 299 with a knock of 189 before Chaminda Vaas claimed five wickets to rout India for 54 in 26.3 overs.

*Although technically the World Cup 1996 semi-final was awarded to Lanka by the referee when crowd started throwing fruit and bottles on the field at the Eden Gardens, India had all but lost the game by then. Chasing Sri Lanka's total of 251 for eight, India collapsed dramatically from 98 for two to 120 for eight to spark off crowd trouble.
