Having received only a third of the average rainfall this year, the Maharashtra government is likely to announce a drought in the state. In such a scenario, Mumbai's cricketing fraternity wants to raise funds for drought-affected victims
The proposal will be up for discussion during the September 10 Managing Committee meeting to be attended by MCA president Sharad Pawar, who is also the former union agriculture minister.
If the members agree, MCA will approach legendary cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, and current superstars like Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane for the tie. The proceeds from the match will be handed over to the Maharashtra.
In the meeting, MCA will also finalise the tickets rate for the India-South Africa ODI (Oct 25) at Wankhede.
