Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf has said that he is ready to come out of retirement and is willing to play under any captain.

Yousuf, who averages over 53 in Test cricket, had announced his retirement after an indefinite ban was imposed on him by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

He did not appeal against the ban, but has repeatedly expressed his desire to play for the national team again.

"If the team doesn't need me I stand retired. But if I'm needed, I am ready and available to serve my country," The Daily Times quoted Yousuf, as saying.u00a0

The former captain, however, made it clear that he would not approach the PCB in a bid to make his return.

"If PCB invites me with respect I will definitely go and join the team," Yousuf said.

It looks like a positive sign for the Pakistan team, which is currently trailing 0-1 in the two Test series against Australia in England.

Earlier, PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt had hinted that Yousuf, along with Younus Khan may return for the Test series against England next month.

"The issue of both these players was discussed at our meeting in London on last Friday where it was felt that since there is little time left before the start of second Test against Australia at Leeds, it would be difficult to judge their fitness and form," Butt had said.u00a0

"Since we have tour games before the Test series against England they can be considered, but obviously the selectors and the team management must feel satisfied that they are fit and ready to return to top cricket," he added.
